This restaurant was amazing. All the dishes we chose were super delicious. Cannot wait to return and try some of the others on offer as we would like to try all the items on the menu. Everything sounded amazing but could not accommodate any more. Will definitely be back. SOOOOO DELICIOUS

This lovely restaurant provided fabulous explorations of some favourite Turkish dishes. I had the pleasure of dining in places in Istanbul where Tulum's chef Coskun was then working - and I was SO delighted to find him here in his own restaurant. He's an amazing artist and we all loved the flavours, presentation and ambiance. The Turkish wine went over well and complimented the meal - all in all a fabulous evening.

Really enjoyed the dinner at Tulum - the 7 course degustation menu - lots of curious, interesting and challenging dishes, with a few stunners. The lentil kofte was a superb way to start, and the chicken desert was a very unusual way to finish. Service was a little hectic, but friendly, and I’d defiantly return for some more modern, experimental Turkish food. The wine list was 99% Turkish, and surprisingly the wines were very drinkable. Great setting, very relaxing, highly recommended for folks prepared to try something a little different.

Modern Turkish without fanfare in a small-ish venue. Competent , attentive staff. Well produced food. Extensive Turkish wine list is certainly worth tasting. Go here if you are happy to step a little out of your familiar comfort zone. A nice little adventure.

NOT WHAT WE WERE EXPECTING AT ALL!!! THE 7 COURSE BANQUET IS THE ULTIMATE. THE FOUR OF US ARE STILL TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHICH OF THE SEVEN COURSES WAS THE " WORST" . WE JUST DID NOT WANT DINNER TO END! I WOULD CERTAINLY GO BACK

The flavours and food ingredient combinations were excellent however portions were small for prices charged, limited main course menu and food was very slow coming

Tulum provided a really memorable night for my husband and I to celebrate our 16th wedding anniversary. We had the tasting menu, 7 plates.....each one it seemed was better than the last....but actually they were ust all perfect. The dishes were so well balanced and the matching wines complimented the flavours...best meal I've had in Melbourne. Hands down. No contest. Surprising, atmospheric and truly unique. We would come every week if we could, thank you Tulum...you are our new favourite....divine.

Second time here. Must admit I am not really a fan of Middle Eastern food. This restaurant has changed my mind completely. Highly recommend the degustation 7 courses. Every dish was presented beautifully and the flavors are unique and amazing. This restaurant is a ten out of ten and am looking forward to another visit.

Amazing, soulful, flavourful food as usual! The dumplings are spectacular. Always stay for dessert - especially if it’s the Jerusalem artichoke rice pudding.

About the restaurant

Awarded Turkish eatery Tulum Restaurant is one of our hottest picks this September. Famed for its contemporary approach to traditional flavours, the Balaclava venue delivers artfully modern plates without compromising on authentic Anatolian taste. The restaurant this week reintroduces its à la carte menu. It marks the return of favourites including the rebooted cilbir (delicious burnt paprika butter sauce smothering a poached egg, topped with smoked yoghurt and a milk crumble, to be mopped up with soft Turkish bread), and new additions kaburga (short beef ribs cooked overnight, meyhane bulgur, swiss chards, clove roasted cauliflower puree). Diners will still be able to order from Tulum’s Taste of Turkey rotating set menu, which showcases the culinary hotspots of Turkey in 5 – 8 courses with the option of matched wines
