Meet the Chef

Brendan Pratt is the Head Chef at Vasse Felix. His experience includes positions at Michelin Star Restaurants The Fat Duck and The Ledbury. Brendan’s experience, interest in wine and passion for the superb local produce led to the move south. ""It’s been quite a journey to evolve my food style with wine pairing at the core. It’s all about the intricate flavours and textures of each wine and developing dishes that honour them, highlight their strengths and create a memorable dining experience.

    Thank you Brendan! Excellent treatment of the smokey duck breast and the tender beef fillet. Accompaniments perfectly matched the proteins. The ambiance at Vasse Felix takes the whole dining experience to another level. Well done.

    The taste plate menu in this restaurant was the best I have tasted! Highly recommend the matched wines which were perfect. Wait staff were excellent, very attentive but not intrusive. An absolutely delightful meal!

    Great venue with outstanding service, wines stole the show for me.. All Entrees were the standouts, While mains & sides Hit & Miss. Beef was amazing & Fish was very good, Duck seemed over processed for my palate, choko served with skin-on is unusual..But cannot fault the presentation or the intent of the chefs to deliver a clever food experience & obviously very capable crew. Would return.

    Lovely wine. Some of the food combinations were a bit strange, but mostly yummy. Annoying menu where the dish isn't described and is just a list of ingredients.

    Have been to Vasse Felix previously,, the meal was delicious. This time was very different with more an Asian flavour,with steak that was thick beef slices, with XO, lettuce taramasalata.. no jus so we ordered a side salad: Choko cucumber, sesame, Jerusalem artichoke, chicken fat..

    Lovely service and great staff which we couldn’t fault. Did the tasting menu, food was good. Snack, starter and main were exceptional, fish and desert pretty average. It’s typical fancy winery vibe which is cool

    A lovely birthday event, I still find it hard to understand that restaurants of such high quality don’t provide a simple tablecloth to make a more formal and prestigious ambience. My personal disappointment of standards these days. Food & Service divine.

    Superb food. The black pudding and truffle starter was a wonderful combination. The lamb main course was 'melt in your mouth'. Excellent wines. Beautiful setting. Great service. A MUST for anyone visiting the area.

    The tasting menu with matched wines was excellent - great flavours, gorgeous presentation and award winning wines. The staff were knowledgeable and service was faultless despite a full restaurant. Thoroughly recommend a visit and leave time to visit the cellar door, you won’t be disappointed.

    Hadn’t been here for at least 5 years so was looking forward to some great food and wine. We weren’t disappointed. There were only 4 choices of entree and mains but they were all very different and it was difficult to choose. I had the Kingfish, oyster, buckwheat & seaweed as an entree and the Pork, black pudding, pepper & gooseberry as my mains with green beans as a side. All were fantastic paired with their 2018 Chardonnay. Service was friendly and knowledgeable although the food came out much quicker than expected so we were caught out with no wine as our mains arrived. Amazing view and look forward to returning in the near future.

    I love, love, love, Vasse Felix. The menu is always so very different. We did the tasting menu and were not disappointed. Even when there is a dish that I would not normally order it turns out to be quite the surprise. The wines are always exceptional. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

About the restaurant

Vasse Felix is Margaret River’s founding wine estate and was established in 1967 by regional pioneer Dr Tom Cullity. Vasse Felix is regarded as one of Australias draw-card winery destinations and welcomes all visitors, daily for a host of wine and culinary experiences.

The Vasse Felix Restaurant offers a beautiful setting to indulge in regional flavours, textures and creative cuisine to compliment the Wine Collection. The menu is created from local, seasonal produce and changes daily as new ingredients become available.

Modern Australian in style, the menu draws inspiration from international preparation techniques, fused in a manner unique to Vasse Felix.

The Vasse Felix Restaurant also offers a five course set menu, created to complement and highlight Margaret Rivers key varieties - Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. Match with your choice of Icon, Premier or Filius wines.

Group Reservation? A range of exclusive dining options are available for groups of 12 or
