Excellent customer service, delicious and generous meals with a wonderful serene environment. Particularly liked the eggplant and the prawns, and the homemade ricotta for our bread! Well with a visit!

We’ve booked the 50% discount via athe Fork and we were not disappointed. The food is very authentic and not too salty, and the pasta and bread are rather fresh! Even we were the 50% off customer yet, we were not treated differently throughout the course of our dinning experience. The place is cosy with only few tables so you can certainly have a decent meal with your friends and family without shouting across the table. Highly recommended

Nice food and good service. The grilled prawns for entree and the lamb shank as well as the burramandi for the mains were very good.

Nice little restaurant which was full of customers on a Saturday lunch. Service was quite slow, other tables served before us even though we arrived earlier. The entrees were excellent, calamari and mortadella, however pork tenderloin and lamb shank, whilst cooked well, were underwhelming for the price. Even at 50% off the bill came to $91 for two people...drinks horrendously overpriced- $13 for a beer and $15 for a red wine.

Four of us went there for dinner on Thursday 25th Feb. We ordered an Italian Pinot Grigio at $68 a bottle (which was high), 4 prawns, 1 portion of fried calamari, 2 pastas, 1 pork and 1 barramundi dishes, panne and chips. The place is pleasant and service was ok. The menu was good and the food tasted fine too. All seemed alright except that the portions of all dishes were just about 40% smaller than what I would expect from a reasonable Italian restaurant. Whereas the prices are about 30% higher than what I believe they should be. The bottom line is, we feel The Fork 50% off food price had not worked there.

The food was great, but wait time was a bit long tonight, which meant we had to skip dessert

Great offer. The gnocchi was the only disappointing dish and the prawns were overpriced at $9ea but everything else was fabulous and the service was good! This restaurant is local to us so I’m sure we will return, especially for the pasta night special!

Via Alta really is a local gem! And we were lucky enough to have enjoyed the 50% offer on the entire menu! The welcome and service were excellent - non invasive but attentive. Our favourite dish was the eggplant parmigiana - mouth-wateringly superb!! What a wonderful surprise and a lovely place to celebrate our wedding anniversary! Thanks Via Alta!

Food took too long to come (1 hr 49 min) to get mains. We ordered prawns for starter and octopus salad come instead. We didn’t say anything but didn’t leave a tip.

A very limited menu for non-pasta eaters however 5 of our group of 6 managed to find a specials dish to our liking which was the lamb shank which we all agreed was superb. The other had the pork tenderloin which was to his liking. The tiramisu was great. Service was good. Great value at 50% off food.

About the restaurant

Bellissimo Italian amongst the north shore burbs

Via Alta. It’s the kind of restaurant that you will kill to have in your local burb. A friendly, welcoming spot that’s open lunch and dinner, and absolutely nails boisterous memorable Italian cuisine. Yep, you definitely want this trattoria in your hood. Scan the big blackboard menu and begin the difficult task of choosing (good luck!): fritto misto of prawns and calamari, veal ossobucco with saffron and gremolata, baked baccala pie and crumbed and fried Milanese meatballs... the list goes on and on. In our opinion you shouldn't miss out on the meatballs, these bad boys are insanely irresistible and gobsmackingly good. Via Alta is the first bambino of Alessandro Pavoni (of the two hatted Ormeggio at the Spit) and Bill Drakopoulous (of Sydney’s Restaurant Group and Aqua Restaurant Group) who joined forces to bring much needed Italiano life to the north shore dining scene….Bellissimo!

Best dish: mondeghini - crumbed and fried Milanese meatballs made with scotch fillet, mortadella and Italian pork sausage, piled into a tall metal cone lined with brown paper.
