Great service and great food. We had never been to this venue before and we had an amazing experience! We would definitely come back with family and friends !
Food was really good. Great atmosphere. Good service. Authentic Italian food. Would recommend this restaurant for anyone who want to try north Italian food
Lovely food, authentic taste and feel. The menu is simple and small with a nice selection of wines available. Good service and a great spot for lunch!
Friendly, welcoming local trattoria for a family birthday dinner. The a la carte menu was delicious with tender melt-in-the-mouth calamari, a tasty rich slow-cooked lamb ragout with pasta, an eggplant dish and cauliflower dish that our vegetarian diners were very happy with, and superb fresh warm bread with ricotta, perfect olives, and arancini that we shared to start with. A bottle of very enjoyable prosecco from the wine list helped make this a lovely relaxed celebratory meal. Friendly and attentive service - thank you Via Alta, we will be back!
Food was very average - we ordered the lamb ragout, and calamari and were not impressed with the quality of the pasta or the service unfortunately
Very good value at 50% off, but I’d still come back if it were full price. Friendly staff and excellent food! Had the burrata, gnocchi, lamb ragu pasta and tiramisu - all were beautiful!! ????
Rustic Italian with a high end price. Pasta portions were substantial however everything else seemed quite small. Service was efficient and friendly, with buzzing atmosphere especially for a Tues evening
Overall a decent experience, however there is much room for improvement. The gnocchi special was divine, but the hot chips were clearly frozen and reheated and the burata salad was too liquid creamy. The waiter was also quite off putting and appeared to not want to be there which made me feel quite unwelcomed. Maybe the 50% off deal = less effort?
It was a nice little restaurant in the nice suburb. We had a set menu and it was tasty. But serving was so little. We also had to wait until we had the main, which was a small portion. But Tiramisu was delicious.
The food was delicious and the staff were incredibly welcoming and excited to recommend their favourites. The food is pricy but absolutely delicious
Nice enough food. Service didn't feel very friendly or welcoming. Scampi on the scampi pasta were ridiculously small, but the flavours were nice.
Nice little restaurant and good food, had a great experience! The atmosphere was nice and we can hear each other. With the 50% offer, it was a great deal to order the set menu however I thought it was overpriced to charge $65 or $75 per person for the set menu as each dish was a single dish to share. Nevertheless, there was a lot of food and we had a great experience.
Had a lovely lunch on a raining day. Calamari was really delicious and the fish was cooked perfect. Portion size was just right. Will be back with the family.
Lovely restaurant with authentic Italian menu and nice relaxed feel. The arancini and the cavatelli al ragu di agnello in particular were terrific.
Terrible service. Waiters/host didn't look please or happy to eel host/serve. Felt rushed and pressured to order food. No suggestions given and felt annoyance from waiters. Average food. Happy I paid 50% off as I would have never paid full price. Not coming back.
We all loved the delicious food here
Average restaurant with inflated prices. The snapper was too saucey but the pasta was nice.
Pleasant atmosphere and nice decor topped with friendly and attentive service, we really enjoyed our dining experience today and thoroughly enjoyed the flavours of the prawn entree and octopus salad . My partner loved his sirloin main and was raving on several times after we left the restaurant how he still had a lovely taste in his mouth. We both enjoyed the generous serving of panna cotta for dessert Overall a very nice lunch. We would recommend this restaurant and we will definitely dine there again.
The wait for food was very long and the portions were quite small. The venue is also very small so a bit awkward being close to others. However the food was nice and you could tell they were quality ingredients.
We had a big group of 10 on a busy night.. the food was all great and service excellent.

Bellissimo Italian amongst the north shore burbs
Via Alta. It’s the kind of restaurant that you will kill to have in your local burb. A friendly, welcoming spot that’s open lunch and dinner, and absolutely nails boisterous memorable Italian cuisine. Yep, you definitely want this trattoria in your hood. Scan the big blackboard menu and begin the difficult task of choosing (good luck!): fritto misto of prawns and calamari, veal ossobucco with saffron and gremolata, baked baccala pie and crumbed and fried Milanese meatballs... the list goes on and on. In our opinion you shouldn't miss out on the meatballs, these bad boys are insanely irresistible and gobsmackingly good. Via Alta is the first bambino of Alessandro Pavoni (of the two hatted Ormeggio at the Spit) and Bill Drakopoulous (of Sydney’s Restaurant Group and Aqua Restaurant Group) who joined forces to bring much needed Italiano life to the north shore dining scene….Bellissimo!
Best dish: mondeghini - crumbed and fried Milanese meatballs made with scotch fillet, mortadella and Italian pork sausage, piled into a tall metal cone lined with brown paper.
