As always Via Alta was fantastic. Food is delicious and staff are on point. No wonder it was busy on a Tuesday evening :-)
This is a great local restaurant. Food quality and service is great. The only criticism is that it does get a little noisy when the restaurant is busy. Otherwise would thoroughly recommend.
We enjoy this restaurant. Have been going here for years. It's local and reliable and a great night out. Good for any occasion whether its a regular night out or a special event.

The staff were friendly, courteous, and accommodating. Size of dishes was generous. Delicious, authentic pasta, just like all the other restaurants in "Sydney Restaurant Group". The prawns for entrée is a must.
I’ve been here before and had a good experience but this time was very disappointing. The waiters spoke in a very condescending tone and we didn’t feel welcomed at all. The desserts were appalling - tiramisu tasted like it was made ages ago and the pannacotta was completely melted into a soupy dish. The burrata was the highlight but otherwise disappointing experience.

We came and got to try the new menu, absolutely delicious and would highly recommend. A good mix of dishes with something for everyone, the veal and prosciutto was to die for and the staff as always are super helpful and friendly. Small cute setting and a great local gem
The best thing about the meal were the bread and everything went downhill from there. The mains took over an hour to arrive and none of the food were an acceptable quality for the price. The king prawns and scampi were tiny, pear in the salad was rotten, pasta sauce was way too watery and salty. Frankly, this is quite disappointing experience. I believe the restaurant has changed hands since my last visit, this used to be a good local Italian restaurant, but has gone downhill substantially.
We ate lunch on a 50% off food special, sharing calamari, eggplant and tagliolini with black squid ink and scampi - all were delicious.
Nothing was mentioned there the 50% discount would not be applicable if the customer had a BYO. The daily special was also not considered as a la carte. We did not get the 50% discount because we had a BYO. The squid ink pasta was very salty. The veal was overcooked. The garden salad had too much salt and lemon juice. The wagyu steak was all right but not spectacular. The worst was the waitering service. We were seated and waited for more the ten minutes. One of us went to tell the waiter we were ready to order. I was later told that was very rude by the waiter. He said we would be thrown out of a restaurant in Italy.
Thought I would give this place a go given that the reviews are quite positive and that it was 50% off via the fork. We had eggplant and king prawns for entree of which the eggplant tasted quite nice. The prawns were $9 each which is disappointingly small if it was full price . The really bad part of the meal was the squid ink pasta with scampi, it was overly salty and when we informed the waiter we were told that's how squid ink tastes which is simply untrue. We were asked to order something else and returned the squid ink pasta to the kitchen. To our surprise we were still charged for it and when we asked about it we were simply told it's already half price and you have ate some of the pasta. I would recommend staying away.

A lovely restaurant in a suburban area. Fantastic delicious food. Pasta is excellent and price are very reasonable when compare to the city restaurant. Very welcoming and attentive services. Highly recommended and will be back!
The dishes were over priced for what you got eg Busiate which had no meat in the pasta was $32 & the chips were very dry & over cooked for $9. Menu didn’t have enough variety. Tagliolino scampi only had 2 very thin scampi for $37 & the pappardele wild boar was very salty. Very disappointed overall with the food.
Amazing authentic Italian food (10 out of 10), service very slow (took an hour for the adult meals to come out). But worth the wait, especially given the 50% Fork deal we booked

Bellissimo Italian amongst the north shore burbs
Via Alta. It’s the kind of restaurant that you will kill to have in your local burb. A friendly, welcoming spot that’s open lunch and dinner, and absolutely nails boisterous memorable Italian cuisine. Yep, you definitely want this trattoria in your hood. Scan the big blackboard menu and begin the difficult task of choosing (good luck!): fritto misto of prawns and calamari, veal ossobucco with saffron and gremolata, baked baccala pie and crumbed and fried Milanese meatballs... the list goes on and on. In our opinion you shouldn't miss out on the meatballs, these bad boys are insanely irresistible and gobsmackingly good. Via Alta is the first bambino of Alessandro Pavoni (of the two hatted Ormeggio at the Spit) and Bill Drakopoulous (of Sydney’s Restaurant Group and Aqua Restaurant Group) who joined forces to bring much needed Italiano life to the north shore dining scene….Bellissimo!
Best dish: mondeghini - crumbed and fried Milanese meatballs made with scotch fillet, mortadella and Italian pork sausage, piled into a tall metal cone lined with brown paper.
