Value for money

dined on Sat, 1 Dec 2018

Service was slow and value for money poor. $18 for a dessert (Eton mess) which came out 2 small scoops of ice cream, 4 blue berries and 2 grapes, along with half a small meringue crumbled on the plate. Absolutely taken for a ride

A great lunch time venue with cheerful service and food with an unparalleled lake side position on the quay. Far too noisy at night with a crowd and the doors closed.

Good sharing plates

For a Thursday night, it was extremely busy and there wasn't enough staff. There were literally 4 people working pouring drink and to order food and to bring food out. Took in excess of 20 mins to get a drink, 20 mins just to order food, and 30 mins for food to come out. Whn my food did come out - a burger and chips - it was luke warm as if it had been sitting out for 10-15 minutes. It is a bar with a fantastic location, and it may have been an off night with taff calling in sick however; last night it was just bad!

The food and drinks are well and truely over prices and the staff are anything but friendly. The only good thing about my experience was the live music.

great place, beautiful views of Canberra and the Lake. There was a wonderful singer and guitarist which added a wonderful atmosphere. Food was really nice not too pricey, drinks were standard, not cheap, not expensive, schooner around $11

Ok for a quick beer and then go find somewhere better to eat!

It’s been a while since I have been to Walt & Burley, one word, disappointing! A wet fish has more personality than bar staff, the food was uneventful, and the whole place needed a massive scrub! Toilets were beyond disgusting at 5.30 on a Sunday arvo. The view out the windows may have been pleasant if you could actually see through them. I think this establishment is banking on there being enough people in Canberra to visits at least once, they are certainly not encouraging return patronage. I did give positive feedback to one the staff on the floor who was doing the best she could in this place.

About Walt & Burley

Waterside dining With one of the most expansive views of Lake Burley Griffin, a table here is hot property, especially as the sun sets. What better way to say goodbye to the day than with a margarita and slow cooked shredded bbq pork burger with jamaican slaw, aioli and a side of chippies. That is happiness is a glass and on a plate. Walt & Burley also offers a range of other dishes to suit all hunger levels. There’s small plates like pan fried spanish chorizo for those looking to graze and nibble, salt and pepper crusted squid and nachos if you’re feeling slightly more peckish, or salmon, fish and chips and hearty burgers if you’re downright famished. The Kingston Foreshore is alive and buzzing with great foodie destinations that are sure to impress. This being one of them. Best dish: Walt’s Best of Burley - chef’s choice of three meats, shoestring fries and jamaican
