Whilst the location and atmosphere were nice enough, the 'Add chicken' option to the Honey Roasted Pumpkin salad on the menu needs to stipulate fried chicken, which ruined the dish completely.

Staff were not very friendly. Our order was incorrect and the replacement meal never came out. We were given a refund and the server apologised. My partner ordered a lemon lime bitters that was undrinkable. We were very disappointed.

The service was so slow unfortunately. We waited over an hour and a quarter for our meals. It was Fathers Day but still that’s just too long.

They seemed to be understaffed for the busy Fathers Day lunch period. Food was slow and not very hot.

Venue was busy as expected for Fathers day. Was not advised on food wait, but waited over 1 hour for burgers and fish and chips. When food arrived, chips were inedible, rest of food dry. Very Disappointing.

Too noisy, music was good but too loud - very hard to have a conversation even with the person right next to you. Steak was beautifully cooked but I resent paying that much then having to pay for a separate salad. The decor is great, I love the fire place and the staff were lovely.

Great evening views across the lake, nice live music, open fire ?? food was only ordinary though. Good for a drink to take in the view before heading out for dinner.

It costs $14 for 2 soft drinks, don't bring the whole family...

Food was great - the glasses were gross. It didn't look they had been washed in months. You MUST go to the bar to get a drink even though there was no-one in there and we were 'fenced' in due to table settings. A lesson in manners wouldn't hurt either.

My partner really enjoyed the burgers and the salmon dish but the pumpkin risotto was very average. location was lovely.

We were waiting for nearly 2 hours for our food. My 5-year old and 8-year old were desperate for their lunch. When we asked, numerous times, if they could check on the order and tell us how long we were given the standard reply of it’s 25 minutes away. When we hit the two hour mark we said we wanted it in 10 minutes or our money back. It was then they finally checked and it turns out they lost our order! It seems they were understaffed and clearly their systems and customer service needs improving!

We sat Lakeside and enjoyed the sunset with our drinks while the kids scootered outside. Kids meals were a bit more expensive than usual but very nice. My main meal was mixed up but the problem was rectified quickly.

I did like the atmosphere, the location, the menu, the kind of guests that were there - young, smartly dressed.

About the restaurant

Waterside dining

With one of the most expansive views of Lake Burley Griffin, a table here is hot property, especially as the sun sets. What better way to say goodbye to the day than with a margarita and slow cooked shredded bbq pork burger with jamaican slaw, aioli and a side of chippies. That is happiness is a glass and on a plate. Walt & Burley also offers a range of other dishes to suit all hunger levels. There’s small plates like pan fried spanish chorizo for those looking to graze and nibble, salt and pepper crusted squid and nachos if you’re feeling slightly more peckish, or salmon, fish and chips and hearty burgers if you’re downright famished. The Kingston Foreshore is alive and buzzing with great foodie destinations that are sure to impress. This being one of them.

Best dish: Walt’s Best of Burley - chef’s choice of three meats, shoestring fries and jamaican
