The staff and ambience was nice but the food was not good at all. The chips were over cooked and full of oil and the calamari was also too oily and definitely not up to the previous standards.

Staff were welcoming and helpful in a covid-restricted environment. Really appreciated their efforts to make sure we were comfortably seated. Bar service was very good.

Had an awesome experience here preparing a surprise party for my partner. The staff were excellent in the set up and pre ordering food, it worked out well for a semi big group of us. Would go back in a heartbeat. Everyone was satisfied and happy. Thanks team

Ok food and service. Good lake views, if you’d like to dine near the lake then it’s a good option. Recommend for an easy feed rather than great food

Drinks subpar - cocktail jug costing $45 was basically an alcoholic fire engine, very disappointing. Food was a bit average - costly for what was given. Hot seafood platter was some battered fish, salt n pepper squid and 3 scallops with a side of chips and salad leaves - ok but not good. Service was ok, nice enough staff. Overall nice setting, with sad cocktail jugs & average food. Overpriced for quality given.

Great service, good food, no worries. Easy to make a booking and to change the time to later when needed. Nice outlook across the waterfront. Will come back.

Whilst the location and atmosphere were nice enough, the 'Add chicken' option to the Honey Roasted Pumpkin salad on the menu needs to stipulate fried chicken, which ruined the dish completely.

We enjoyed our diner very well. I personally like the music a little softer so you can talk better with one other without having to yell. But overall a great place and we will be back!!

Staff were not very friendly. Our order was incorrect and the replacement meal never came out. We were given a refund and the server apologised. My partner ordered a lemon lime bitters that was undrinkable. We were very disappointed.

The service was so slow unfortunately. We waited over an hour and a quarter for our meals. It was Fathers Day but still that’s just too long.

They seemed to be understaffed for the busy Fathers Day lunch period. Food was slow and not very hot.

Venue was busy as expected for Fathers day. Was not advised on food wait, but waited over 1 hour for burgers and fish and chips. When food arrived, chips were inedible, rest of food dry. Very Disappointing.

Too noisy, music was good but too loud - very hard to have a conversation even with the person right next to you. Steak was beautifully cooked but I resent paying that much then having to pay for a separate salad. The decor is great, I love the fire place and the staff were lovely.

Great evening views across the lake, nice live music, open fire ?? food was only ordinary though. Good for a drink to take in the view before heading out for dinner.

It costs $14 for 2 soft drinks, don't bring the whole family...

Food was great - the glasses were gross. It didn't look they had been washed in months. You MUST go to the bar to get a drink even though there was no-one in there and we were 'fenced' in due to table settings. A lesson in manners wouldn't hurt either.

About the restaurant

Waterside dining

With one of the most expansive views of Lake Burley Griffin, a table here is hot property, especially as the sun sets. What better way to say goodbye to the day than with a margarita and slow cooked shredded bbq pork burger with jamaican slaw, aioli and a side of chippies. That is happiness is a glass and on a plate. Walt & Burley also offers a range of other dishes to suit all hunger levels. There’s small plates like pan fried spanish chorizo for those looking to graze and nibble, salt and pepper crusted squid and nachos if you’re feeling slightly more peckish, or salmon, fish and chips and hearty burgers if you’re downright famished. The Kingston Foreshore is alive and buzzing with great foodie destinations that are sure to impress. This being one of them.

Best dish: Walt’s Best of Burley - chef’s choice of three meats, shoestring fries and jamaican
