Michael has travelled the globe working in premier restaurants internationally. Most recently Michael has arrived from Melbourne’s renowned Eureka 89 as Executive Chef where Michael designed signature dishes for the degustation concept. Prior to being lured back to Australia Michael gained his reputation for quality and innovative dishes alongside Giorgio Locatelli at Locanda Locatelli, Daphne’s in London and the opening of Le Caprice in the Pierre Hotel on 5th Avenue, New York City.

Just a really amazing experience from start to finish. Nothing too much trouble, the views were amazing and the food absolutely stunning.

Unfortunately the day we went they had some service issues and the matching wine with food were about 20 minutes between getting one and the other. They did recognise this about half way through the degustation and gave us a complimentary drink but it didn't solve the issue. We were there for over 3.5 hours which for us was fine as we had a lovely seat opening up to the outside and it was good people watching! The actual waiters/waitresses were lovely. Food was interesting combination of flavours, perhaps trying to be a little too clever with some things but we'd definitely give it another go.

Food was very fancy and quite tasty, free bread was delicious. Service was non existent at times, even when paying, wait times were unacceptable for a restaurant of this quality, expected better.

We had the tasting menu with accompanying wines... my word were we not disappointed! Some selections I would have never have opted for on the general menu but I'm so pleased that I got to try them. The service was impressive with brief description of the food & wine as it arrived. Every dish was a delight!

About Wild Swan at Mandoon Estate

Time for Fine Dining Located in Caversham in the glorious wine country of the Swan Valley, outside Perth, Mandoon Estate is open from 10 AM to 5 PM which makes it an ideal spot for a long liquid lunch (so long as you’re not driving home). This is a restaurant that offers some of the finest à la carte dining in the Swan Valley. The decor of whites and creams is elegant and relaxing, with service to match. Their executive Chef Michael Hartnell has an impressive international CV that includes Daphne’s in London and Le Caprice in the Pierre Hotel on 5th Avenue, New York. He has designed a beautifully constructed degustation menu in which each dish is matched with one of Mandoon Estate’s carefully selected wines. However discerning (or not) your palate might be, this is high-class nosh. For a surprising seafood sensation, try the chargrilled cuttlefish, with quinoa, samphire, khol rabi, and citrus tapioca. Best Dish: Slow Roasted Lamb Shoulder
