Loved the fact that there was generosity on the plate. Everything was delicious and I wanted to order all the dishes on offer. We will probably come back at the end of this scarf training period just to see how the students are doing and to sample some more dishes. We have been to Uncle before several times and have never left disappointed.

Fantastic experience, have already recommended it to a number of friends. Will be booking in for another one! The food was also a real highlight and value for money - especially the Wagyu beef main course.

Really nice night. Only reason I said 9/10 instead of 10/10 for recommending the dinner was that it may not suit some people (eg. cost or no particular interest in the cause) rather than any issue with the night itself.

A great night out for dinner that supports training up young people seeking protection, and those from refugee and migrant backgrounds who face significant barriers gaining employment.

We dined at the Scarf Dinner & sampled all the goodies on offer. I particularly enjoyed the beef cutlet was more a pulled beef Pattie with a spicy sauce - perfectly cooked & right amount of spice. I also had the chicken which was Yummy! I really enjoyed the cabbage accompaniments & the lite & crunchy papadums. The dal & the mussel curry also were really delicious as well. The only thing that we found a little uncomfortable was the low lighting and the warm temperature - during winter it would be perfect but after a warm day it was simply just a little warm - but not unbearable. Would definitely return to The Rochester for another meal

Winter Scarf Dinner at Uncle

Winter Scarf Dinners at Uncle will run every Tuesday night from 9 July - 27 August. You’ll need to provide your credit card details to secure your booking with full pre-payment of $45 per person. As per Scarf's booking policy, your prepaid “tickets” to this Scarf Dinner are non-refundable. This policy was put in place to protect us from last minute cancellations which compromise Scarf's viability as a sustainable social enterprise. Further details can be found on the Scarf FAQ page. Scarf is a social enterprise that gets young people into jobs while adding flavour and heart to the hospitality industry. We partner with great Melbourne restaurants to run awesome, hands-on hospitality training, mentoring and paid work experience programs. Scarf trainees are resilient young people seeking protection, and those from refugee and migrant backgrounds who have faced barriers to employment. Participating in Scarf builds knowledge, skills, networks, and confidence. During weekly Scarf Dinners, volunteer mentors work closely with trainees, supporting them to run the front of house. The chefs from our seasonal partner restaurant do the cooking. Scarf volunteer mentors are front of house professionals who bring experience, passion and patience, allowing Scarf trainees to grow their skills, knowledge, confidence and connections. We offer a fabulous drinks list thanks to generous sponsors including Punt Road Wines and Stomping Ground Brewing Co. Please note Scarf Dinners are not BYO.
