Very noisy, not just because there were so many hard surfaces that would not absorb conversations but totally unnecessary music was being played. The purpose of the evening was to chat to friends not to listen to inane pop music.
From the moment you walk in you are absolutely spoilt with sensational food, wine and service. The best pizza going around and the antipasto is to die for.
The quality of the food was excellent and the staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. Michael was our waiter and he was most courteous and polite. The young lady waited for which I didn’t catch her name was very good at her job and quite accommodating and bubbly. I would definately recommend this place and would return
We love the food @ Woodstock. The best Roman pizza in Melbs. And thanks Gaia for taking care of us so well! What a great experience. Also the neighbourhood it’s nice and tidy.
We were trying this place for the first time and we choose a special occasion (birthday) to do so. We were impressed by the quality of the food and the taste. The pizza was 100% authentic Roman and the ingredients were just outstanding, top quality. We had two fish based entrees and we couldn’t believe our tastebuds, same taste as Italy! Wow! You guys are amazing. Gaia took great care of us, she was lovely! We will be back very soon!
I booked for a lunch date, greeted by lovely Leslie who looked after us, gentle and courteous nature. I have not dined at Woodstock for sometime , so it was pleasing to see the menu has changed. Warm atmosphere .. loved the italian discourse of the pizza makers in the background - felt like i was in Italy ! My colleagues and i had a wonderful luncheon, will dine again in the near future with my family ! Thank you once again to Leslie for your excellent service, keep up the great work !
Great service, yummy food, reasonably priced
Good food and great service.
Was good once we got our meal as they forgot our order
The food and service were excellent. Everyone had a great lunch. The Nutella donuts for dessert were delicious!
Great food, great service, a little bit noisy but worth it.
AMAZING Italian food, and very authentic
The service wasn’t as good as last time I went there. We had to wait a long time for our order, because they got our order wrong, and had to remake it, but didn’t have the decency to tell us.
Nice place for a family dinner

72 Napier Street, 3040, Essendon, Australia
Woodstock Essendon is the third in a series of eateries concocted by Tony Cannata, whose family has been running restaurants for 20 years. It is impossible to summarise the contents of their menu because Nonna - who is in her late 70s - trots down to the market to pick up the latest and freshest items to cook for you, her guest, tonight. Blackboard menus designed on the day are ever-changing and you never quite know what is going to be on the menu. This family was the first in Melbourne to have and run a wood oven, built for pizzas in the early 1990s. Now using only the finest tomatoes and pizza flour, they specialise in creating a dining experience of the highest and most authentic Sicilian calibre, that will have you feeling like you have been royally spoilt when you come here. An absolute must to visit, come and allow yourself to be swept away in this place of nostalgia and comfort food.
Best dish: The pizza, of course
