Excellent
I've been to XO many, many times before and usually love it. Unfortunately this visit was very underwhelming. The highlights were: the dumpling (sadly, only a single dumpling each) and the ravioli. Both dishes were very tasty and with the amazing flavours I have come to expect from XO. The Char Siu was tasty, but chewy, the steak tartare "chips" (fried betel leaves?) were insanely greasy and the dessert... was literally inedible. It consisted of a tablespoon each of dry, seemingly week old cake, covered in sugary red sauce with ice cream (presumably to provide lubrication for the cake?). Needless to say, we left the entire dish otherwise untouched. I told one of our many waiters, but she was more interested in getting us to pay and vacate the restaurant for the next sitting, to acknowledge my comment. For $75 a head, there are myriad places to eat that will blow your socks off in this town. So unfortunately I won't be going back to XO any time soon.
Sensational lunchtime meal for my wife and I. This was a fixed menu (due to COVID) which I prefer. We walked in, sat down, selected a cocktail each, then we were served a range of beautiful dishes. Flavours were just incredible, particularly the Nyonya Duck with the Capitan Sauce. Highly recommend.
An interesting set menu, with some surprising combinations. The prawn and pork dumplings were superb, but we could have easily skipped some of the other options - the buffalo cheese course was quite odd. Not having any other option than the set menu, you really are at the mercy of the chef. Not sure we would rush back.
No need for rice & potato on the same dish - that’s my only constructive comment - everything else was perfect !!
All was fine but our table was under an air conditioning vent and was unpleasant. The staff were aware but could not respond as the restaurant was full.
My wife and i went to XO for our 48th wedding anniversary. It was one of the best meals (set menu) we had had anywhere for a long time. The cost was reasonable and our main waiter (young woman) very helpful, bright and pleasant. Noise level was a bit loud for our liking - but hey! - you cant have everything! Highly recommended.
Superb dinner. Very accommodating with dietary requirements.
XO my local - & feel blessed to have such a brilliant restaurant within walking distance of home. Great menu selections & wine list love the ambience & service ! Thanks Kent
The raised chairs were super uncomfortable. A low upholstered chair would have fitted just as well and been nicer to sit in for a long period of time.
Really good food and good service. Highly recommended if you want to try Asian food with creativity and flair but without an arrogant, show-off factor.
Lovely meal, tasty dishes. Small portions but the flavours were amazing. Very pricey - definitely somewhere special and not your everyday kind of place
Omg the food was so good !! And the staff were so kind and accommodating. 10/10 can’t wait to go back !!
Exceptional Birthday dinner. Great service and great atmosphere. Food and drink was first class. Great attentional to detail and friendly service. We will be back. ????
The staff and service was amazing as always! Great place to go for a bday celebration. Wonderful food and atmosphere. Looking forward to returning again soon.
Enjoyed lunch at this lovely restaurant. Delicious and varied set menu with a well balanced and creative dishes. Friendly environment, reasonably priced wine list. .......and I loved the dessert.
Delicious menu items. Great atmosphere and service. Not rushed. The cocktails are amazing.
This set menu restaurant had a good range of dishes all of which were of excellent quality. There wasn't a dish we didn't like. The restaurant is modern and what you would expect of a fine dining restaurant and the staff are helpful and attentive without being obtrusive. The wine list is extensive and has something for everyone. Definitely a find.
This beautiful restaurant was the perfect choice to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. The person assigned to look after us was so lovely and friendly and was part of the reason for us having such a great night. A special thank you to her. The food was also equally as good with each mouthful immensely enjoyed and savoured. Thank you XO!
Nice birthday lunch in a very quiet restaurant - set menu was good, but would have liked just a little flexibility
Great food, tasty cocktails and friendly staff! Portions weren't huge but still enough that we were satisfied by the end of the meal. The sexy squid in particular was so good!
16 Iluka Street, 2604, Narrabundah (ACT), Australia
Love you like XO
Quirky, modern and oh-so-cool, XO Restaurant is breathing new life into the sleepy suburb of Narrabundah. This cracking new eatery has been created by four Canberra boys with a passion for food and drink, and they have created something really special. The menu features upmarket Asian street food with a playful twist… start with some fresh and tangy cured kingfish, and follow this up with the Malaysian style Prawn Kapitan. And you can’t leave without trying their signature ‘Asian Bolognaise’ which features stir fried udon in XO chicken ragout with a 60/60 egg - it's super delicious! The decor is stunning and the food is beautifully presented - you’ll be gramming all night!
Best dish: crispy lamb ribs
