The Best Restaurants in McLaren Vale, Adelaide

McLaren Vale is 33kms from Adelaide, on the Fleurieu Peninsula. A highly established wine region, especially for shiraz, it’s a favourite with locals and also very popular with interstate visitors. There is a focus in this region on sustainable grape growing and the area lays claim to some of the oldest grape vines in Australia. McLaren Vale is home to 80 cellar doors and restaurants, which also serve up delicious food made from fresh local produce. Highlight wineries in the area include the well-known Hither & Yon, and D’Arenburg, home of the Cube restaurant where a 3D printer is used to make desserts!

There is plenty of luxury boutique accommodation in the region, as many people do self-drive/tour bus winery tours. If you’re planning on multiple vineyard stops and tastings in a day, you can always cycle or walk the 8km Shiraz trail. If you’re feeling fresh on Saturday morning - or in need of a caffeine hit - visit the Willunga farmers market.
