Take a short, 30-minute drive from the Adelaide CBD and you’re in Adelaide Hills wine country. Hike the tracks and bushwalks around the Mt Lofty ranges, visit historic villages or pick your own farm-fresh fruit. Beerenberg Strawberry farm has their picking season from October to April. There are lots of art galleries and exhibitions to see, and even an art trail to follow.
Enjoy the country drive, making sure to stop and try some cool climate wines along the way. The area is known for shiraz, chardonnay and sauvignon blanc. Almost every winery has a restaurant which looks out over rolling hills and vineyards. There’s fine dining at Hardy’s, or a woodfire pizza oven and wine bar vibe at Lost in a Forest. Be sure to stop in at Handorf, a former German settlement, which looks exactly like a German village. To continue the German vibe, stop for lunch at The Haus.
