Toowong is an inner-city suburb of Brisbane. Located close to the University of Queensland and the CBD, one side of Toowong borders the Brisbane River. If you’re in Toowong for food and drink, the grand Victorian pub, The Regatta Hotel is worth a visit. The Royal Exchange Hotel is another heritage-listed hotel. Both gastropubs have been lovingly restored and offer views of the river.
The Toowong Village Shopping Centre has a large food court with all the usual suspects. There’s also great shopping, plus a gym and David Jones. The Pitch and Fork is in Toowong Memorial Park, where there’s lots of lawn for kids to play on. There’s a large outdoor area, while the inside is bright and spacious. The venue serves up all-day brunch, complete with your favourite cocktail. Located near the Toowong Tennis Courts is the Corner Store Cafe. A derelict 1900s building has been transformed into a bright, welcoming space. The menu is full of modern offerings inspired by international cuisine. Opt for a hoisin pork sandwich, patatas bravas, or a chipotle burrito bowl.
