The Best Restaurants in Ascot Vale, Melbourne (VIC)

Ascot Vale is a boutique, inner-city suburb 6km north east of Melbourne. It’s close to the showgrounds and Flemington Racecourse, so it buzzes during Melbourne Racing Carnival and other horse racing events throughout the year. The neighbourhood features an upmarket dining scene with some old favourites thrown in, plus some everyday heroes, such as food trucks dishing up tasty snacks.

Union Road is the foodie strip. From the Union Hotel at one end to the pizza joint at the other, there are wine bars, cafes and falafel shop fronts mixed in with African, Vietnamese and Chinese restaurants. Try the Fancy Parrot on Union Road for upmarket wine and food or Arcadia Gastronomique for exquisite, contemporary Spanish dining. The area has gentrified and hipstered up over the past few years. So, it’s no surprise The Ascot Lot is frequented by the local community. It’s a food truck park - in the same vein as Welcome to Thornbury in Thornbury - hosting trivia nights, bingo and events for your dogs too, like Pooches and Prosecco day.
