Windsor is a tiny but very trendy suburb, located in the inner suburbs of Melbourne. The Windsor end of Chapel Street is full of niche restaurants, cafes and bars, including a very cool ‘hidden doorway’ bar, Jungle Boy, behind a sandwich shop. There’s a very friendly, local community feel, and the area is very accessible by train and tram.
Windsor plays host to lots of small, intimate bars, like old favourite Borsch, Vodka and Tears. Hawker Hall is a large, open restaurant which was inspired by Singaporean and Malaysian street stalls. It’s loved by young and old and serves food well into the late hours of the evening. Try Hanoi Hannah for authentic Vietnamese, or Tokyo Tina by the same owners (make sure you have the bao). Amok serves up great Cambodian food, while for your caffeine fix, ask for a ‘Magic’ at the school of Seven Bells and they’ll sort you out. On a Sunday morning, wander the artsy graffiti covered laneways where you’ll find plenty of cafes to sort you out for breakfast.
