The Best Restaurants in Haymarket, Sydney

Right in the heart of the city, this is where Sydney’s Chinatown is located. To eat, there’s everything from cheap and cheerful food court options through to high-end Chinese restaurants (think ordering live seafood from the tanks and having it prepared in loads of different ways). Haymarket is very popular during the day for yum cha, while for night-time dining it’s a favourite with many chefs – including some of Sydney’s finest. Golden Century stays open until 4am, with a host of others bustling until midnight or 1am. Of course, it’s not just Chinese food on offer. There are plenty of options including Japanese, Malaysian, Korean, Thai and more.

Housing in the neighbourhood is dominated by high-rise apartment buildings and is popular with students at nearby universities. Haymarket is an easy walk from Town Hall Station or Central Station and is also serviced by the light rail. Do some shopping at Market City or Paddy’s Market before making your way to Haymarket for a bite to eat.
