Canterbury is a hidden gem, 20 minutes south west of the Sydney CBD on the train, with quiet parklands and lovely walks along Cook’s River. Located on the edge of the inner west, it’s popular with people looking for proximity to the CBD at a more affordable price. Currently, Canterbury is going through an urban renewal with new apartment blocks along the river, but it’s also home to established freestanding houses and leafy suburban streets.
Locals and visitors can find casual dining around Charles Street and along Canterbury Road including Mexican, Asian fusion, Middle Eastern, Japanese, Korean BBQ, Vietnamese and more. Canterbury is home to the Canterbury Olympic Ice Rink, the racecourse at Canterbury Park, a public golf course, and a fan base for the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs NRL team. Canterbury Park also hosts Canterbury Foodies & Farmers Market.
