On the northern edge of the Sutherland Shire, Sylvania sits on the Georges River just over the Tom Ugly’s Bridge. Located 22km south of the Sydney CBD, it’s just a short drive from here to the beaches of Sutherland Shire. Sylvania is a family-friendly suburb with predominantly free-standing houses and lots of leafy streets and green parkland. The architecture is a mix of large waterfront properties along the river as well as more modest suburban houses and low-rise apartment blocks.

Princes Highway runs through Sylvania and is the location for a strip of restaurants including the award-winning Paul’s Famous Hamburgers. Casual dining options in the suburb include Japanese, Indian and Chinese cuisine. Southgate Shopping Centre includes a range of cafés for coffee and daytime meals, so there are plenty of places to refuel while you shop.
